Someone suggested running First Aid, which I did + that found a corruption in the passport but told me to fix it by running First Aid in Recovery. Click Done to continue." After that I fell into a rabbit hole on Google and everything got so confusing so I didn't know what to do. However, when I tried to reformat it per the instructions of Google, it gave me an error message "Erase process has failed. I went with APFS over Mac OS Extended because even though my Mac is old (2016), it has High Sierra version 10.13.6, and I was told anything after 10.13 should use APFS. Anyways so I went on to try to move files in/out, realized it's read only, realized I had to reformat it to APFS (I think?). I just want to back up specific photos and documents. So basically I bought a 4TB WD My Passport, plugged it in, accidentally clicked on WD Discovery but once it started uploading files I pressed cancel bc I don't want a backup of my mac. I'm not good with technology at all and this hard drive I bought is making my life SO HARD.
